Skip Gibbs, the president of Skip Gibbs Company, Inc. founded this entrepreneurial venture based upon his personal need for a durable, simple, cost-effective bridge solution to service his residence on the far side of Scotts Creek, which floods annually, in rural Northern California.

One Railspan® model S89 crossing Scotts Creek in 1983 founded what is today a nationally known quality bridge manufacturing firm with hundreds of bridge examples serving customers across North America to date.

As time passed, and the company grew, it also became apparent that one model S89 was not enough to span the entire Scotts Creek flood plain, and a few years later the bridge was expanded with two more Railspan® modules installed upon driven steel piling making the bridge some 265 feet in length.

Paralleling our founder's river-crossing needs, Skip Gibbs Company continues to meet customers' challenging bridge requirements with expanded product lines to accomodate each client's unique project scope. To date the company continues to offer bridges to varied types of customers (click here to read a listing of varied clientele). With examples in place serving both the private and public sectors, the company is known above all for its excellent service (click here to read customer testimonials) and speedy response times.

The Newspan® line of bridges was launched in 1997 offering customers increased versatility with a product manufactured entirely from ASTM A588 grade 50 high-strength alloyed weathering steel. Would you like that in layman's terms? This is a bridge which is virtually maintenance free in most environments, will blend into its surrounding setting beautifully, and on top of that, it is strong as heck! Newspan® bridges offer customers a brand new, custom-manufactured bridge exactingly tailored to suit their needs. The Skip Gibbs Company Newspan® bridges are low key and low profile, naturally fitting into nearly every environment with a natural bare steel rust-color.
